The SpiceUp Project

SpiceUp provides exclusive and customised location-based services for pepper farmers to boost the productivity and sustainability of the product. The service provides geodata based information services to support 100.000 pepper farmers in three main areas in Indonesia. This information increases production, income, food security and optimizes inputs of water, fertilizer and pesticides.

SpiceUp provides agriculture related satellite data (i.e. weather and soil moisture) based on farm location. Using satellite and field data, SpiceUp gives tailored GAP recommendations specific to farm location. The product you sell will be traceable in the sustainable tracing system. And the service is available via a Mobile application

With SpiceUp we focus on pepper as this is one of the main sectors for economic growth in Indonesia. Globally, the demand for pepper has also increased. Indonesia is the second biggest producer in the world. Pepper farmers in Indonesia tend to face many challenges related to the weather, water availability and increased incidence of pests and diseases.

To partially solve these problems SpiceUp contains four major services resulting from field and satellite data input such as Fertilizer and Disease Prevention Recommendations, Irrigation Management Advices, Good Agricultural Practices and Sustainable Traceability System.
